Casseroles are comfort food, and with a countertop slow cooker like Rival's Casserole Crock Pot, that comfort can be cooking while the oven is free for other uses.
This 5-quart oblong slow cooker has a cream exterior with pale green accents, a country-blue stoneware insert, and a double-handled clear glass lid.
In addition to the typical uses for a slow cooker, such as soups, chili, pot roast, etc., both the insert and lid of the Casserole Crock Pot can be used as conventional baking or serving dishes; they are microwave- and oven-safe.
With two settings--high for an oven-like baking effect, or low for braising, poaching, or warming--the Casserole Crock Pot can handle a variety of dishes.
The accompanying recipe book ranges from vegetable side dishes like Autumn Apples and Yams through plenty of beef, chicken and pork entrees to desserts like Bread Pudding or Upside-Down Chocolate Cake.
Clean-up is very easy; warm soapy water will do the trick. (The base unit is not immersible; just use a soapy rag or cloth.) Do not use scratchy, abrasive cleaners on the exterior or the stoneware.
The glass lid and stoneware insert are dishwasher-safe.
The slow cooker measures 16 by 12 by 7-1/2 inches (including lid and handles).
